Manchester United Star Decides on Transfer Issue After Dismissing Amorim and Appointing Carrick as Coach

Manchester United star has made his decision regarding a possible transfer after the club dismissed Ruben Amorim and appointed Michael Carrick as head coach.

On 15 Jan 2026 GMT+7, BBC Sport, a leading UK media outlet, reported the latest on Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United's captain and midfielder, amid rumors of a possible transfer in the January transfer window.

Bruno Fernandes, 31, has been closely watched by Saudi Pro League's wealthy club Al Hilal. Transfer rumors intensified after Manchester United decided to sack Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim and his staff over disagreements with the club management.

Recent reports indicate Bruno Fernandes is considering his future at Manchester United. He met with Carlos Fernandes, one of Ruben Amorim's assistant coaches, following Amorim's dismissal, prompting concerns he might be seeking a move.

The former Sporting Lisbon star recently admitted feeling hurt knowing Manchester United was willing to sell him. He also said senior management hesitated to tell him directly because Ruben Amorim wanted Bruno to stay.

However, sources now say that despite major changes—including Darren Fletcher's temporary appointment for two matches and Michael Carrick taking over as interim coach for the rest of the season—Bruno remains determined to stay at the club.

"He intends to reassess the situation again in the summer when he has one year left on his contract. Although Bruno rejected a substantial offer from Al Hilal last summer and continues to attract interest from the Saudi league, if he leaves Manchester United, he still wants to continue playing in Europe," the source added.
