Liverpools Star Player Responds to Transfer Rumors as Contract Nears End This Season

What does Liverpool think? The club's key player has responded to the transfer rumors as his contract nears expiration this season.

On 15 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Andrew Robertson, Liverpool's vice-captain and left-back, gave an interview about his future as his contract with the Premier League club will expire at the end of this season.

Andrew Robertson, 31, has played 362 matches for Liverpool since transferring from Hull City in 2017. However, this season he has started only 4 Premier League games after Milos Kerkez joined from Bournemouth as a long-term replacement for the left-back position.

This has led to speculation that Robertson might decide to leave Liverpool when his contract ends. When asked if he still wants to stay, the Scottish international said, "Yes, but that's a difficult question."

"I have five months left on my contract, and we need to consider what options there are to stay or possibly move on, or something like that. I have to sit down with my family and then decide."

"After a tense summer, I've been trying to enjoy being part of the team and being a Liverpool player. I want to qualify for the World Cup finals, and fortunately, we've done that. Now I have to consider what my family and I want next."

When asked if his playing time until the season's end would influence his future decision, Robertson said, "I can focus on the past eight and a half years. I think Jürgen Klopp didn't play me in one game, and I was very angry. I'm a player who wants to play."

"I've played while injured, while not fully fit, sometimes at 50, 40, 30 percent fitness, both for club and country. I always want to get on the pitch and play, and clearly, that's not happening now. So that's the difference."

"My role has changed this season, and I've enjoyed it, but ultimately footballers want to play. If someone is happy sitting on the bench, they probably shouldn't be at any football club."
