Enough with Being Trophyless: Saliba Vows Arsenal Will Win 4 Titles This Year

Enough with the word 'trophyless.' William Saliba has declared firmly that Arsenal will win four trophies this year.

On 17 Jan 2026 GMT+7, William Saliba, Arsenal's key defender, candidly admitted that repeatedly finishing seasons without a trophy has left him very frustrated. However, this frustration has also become a major motivation as the Gunners have a chance to make history by winning four trophies this season.

Arsenal continues their pursuit of their first Premier League title since the 2003–04 season, having finished runners-up for three consecutive years, losing twice to Manchester City and once to Liverpool.

The club's most recent major trophy was the FA Cup in the 2019–20 season, early in Mikel Arteta's tenure. Though they added the Community Shield in 2020 and 2023, many fans do not regard it as a major trophy.

Since Saliba became a mainstay in the first team in 2022, Arsenal has reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals twice, including this season, and made one UEFA Champions League semi-final appearance. However, in the FA Cup, they have not progressed past the fourth round since their last title win.

Saliba said, “I’m tired of ending seasons with nothing in my hands. Now we have four competitions to fight for the trophy.”

“Last year my hands were empty, and now we want to win every trophy: the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, and Premier League. It won’t be easy, but we will prove ourselves on the pitch and give everything to win.”

Throughout English football history, no team has ever won the League, FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Champions League all in the same season.

Only Manchester United (1998–99) and Manchester City (2022–23) have achieved the 'treble'.

However, Arsenal remains on course to challenge for all four trophies. They lead Manchester City by six points in the Premier League and top their Champions League group with six straight wins.

In the FA Cup, Arsenal has reached the fourth round and is set to host League One side Wigan Athletic.

In the Carabao Cup, they hold an advantage in the semi-finals after winning the first leg against Chelsea.

If Arteta leads the team to success, it would be a historic achievement in many respects, as Arsenal has never won the UEFA Champions League in their 70-year history and has been waiting 22 years for a Premier League title.

Moreover, their last League Cup triumph was in the 1992–93 season, a success that fans under 40 years old have scarcely witnessed.
