The Senegal national team did it!!! They defeated Morocco in extra time to claim the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations championship.
The Africa Cup of Nations 2025 final took place on Sunday night, 18 Jan 2026 GMT+7, where Senegal faced off fiercely against Morocco.
In the 90+4th minute of stoppage time, Morocco was awarded a penalty, but Brahim Diaz's chipped shot was comfortably saved by the goalkeeper, leaving the score 0-0 after 90 minutes, sending the match into extra time.
In extra time, at the 94th minute, Senegal took the lead 1-0 through Pape Gueye, and neither side managed to score again during the remaining time.
After 120 minutes, Senegal defeated Morocco 1-0 to claim the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, their second championship following their 2021 victory.
