Apology to Man City fans as the club makes a decision after a shocking defeat to Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League.
On 21 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Manchester City, the English Premier League runners-up, announced a ticket refund for fans through a statement by the team's player leaders Bernardo Silva, Rúben Dias, Rodri, and Erling Haaland following an unexpected loss in the UEFA Champions League.
Man City suffered a 1-3 defeat away to Bodø/Glimt in Norway during the seventh match of the UEFA Champions League league phase. This marked the home side’s first win, while the "Sky Blues" suffered their second consecutive loss and now must secure a top-eight finish in the final match to advance automatically to the knockout stage.
After the match, Erling Haaland admitted the result was shameful and apologized to Man City fans watching via media, saying, "Bodø played incredible football and deserved to win. I don’t know what else to say except sorry."
Recently, Man City announced they will refund the tickets of all 374 fans who traveled to Norway to watch the team’s loss to Bodø/Glimt. The "Sky Blues" players will collectively raise £9,357 (392,994 baht) and released a statement saying, "Our fans mean everything to us."
"We recognize the sacrifices our fans make when they travel across the world to support us both home and away, and we will never take that for granted. They are the best fans in the world."
"We also understand how challenging it was for fans to travel and support us in freezing conditions all night. Refunding the tickets for those who traveled to Bodø is the least we can do."
"We are ready to fight this Saturday against Wolves (Premier League) and again next Wednesday when we face Galatasaray (UEFA Champions League) in front of our amazing fans at the Etihad Stadium."
