Unbreakable Curse! Thomas Frank Laments as Tottenham Hotspur Players Suffer Wave of Injuries

Unbreakable curse! Thomas Frank laments as Tottenham Hotspur players suffer a wave of injuries.

On 23 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Thomas Frank, Tottenham Hotspur's head coach, admitted with frustration that the team is going through a period that feels like a "curse" after Lucas Bergvall became the latest victim in a relentless injury crisis.

Lucas Bergvall may be sidelined for up to 3 months after suffering a severe ankle sprain during a clash in the UEFA Champions League, where Spurs beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 last Tuesday.

"It feels like we're cursed," Frank said wearily. "But injuries are part of football. We've been unlucky with repeated injuries, and it looks like Lucas may face a lengthy layoff. He is currently being assessed, and we expect more details in the coming days."

Frank will be missing eight senior players due to injuries. Mohammed Kudus, Rodrigo Bentancur, Richarlison, Ben Davies, and Bergvall have all suffered serious injuries in the last five games.

Meanwhile, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski have yet to appear this season. However, the club confirmed the signing of Brazilian right-back Souza from Santos for £13 million on Thursday.

Good news for Frank came as Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie, and Xavier Simons played in the win over Dortmund without injury, easing some pressure on the head coach. Midfielder Joao Palhinha is also expected to be fit for the upcoming match against Burnley.
