Spurs Have Decided on Van de Ven After Liverpool Shows Interest

Spurs have made their decision regarding Van de Ven following Liverpool's interest in signing him.

On 23 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Thomas Frank, manager of Spurs, gave his latest interview about the future of Mickey van de Ven, the talented Dutch international defender, amid rumors linking him to a move to Liverpool, their Premier League rivals.

Liverpool have begun searching for a new defender to eventually replace current captain Virgil van Dijk long-term after Manchester City outbid them to sign Marc Guehi, their primary target from Crystal Palace, during this winter transfer window.

This has pushed Mickey van de Ven's name to the forefront as a strong Liverpool target recently, but Thomas Frank has stated that Spurs still want to keep him as a key player to help the team contend for success once again.

The Spurs manager clarified Van de Ven's future, noting he remains under contract until 2029. Although unsure about the progress of contract negotiations, he said, "He is definitely a player we should prioritize."

"For me, Mickey is an important player for this team and club, and I hope that remains the case for many years to come. He has the potential to become an even better player, and I have no doubt he will help us achieve the goals we aim for in the future."
