Liverpool reportedly selects new player, aims to close deal this month

The "Reds" Liverpool have been reported to have decided on a new player and aim to close the deal within this month.

TeamTalk, a well-known football media outlet, reported that Liverpool is preparing to sign Anthony Robinson, an attacking left-back and US national team player from Fulham, during the January transfer window to replace Andrew Robertson, who is expected to move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool had initially shown interest in the 28-year-old Robinson last summer but ultimately signed Milos Kerkez instead. Now, Liverpool is renewing their interest in Robinson.

The intention is for Robinson to compete with Kerkez for the position and also to replace Robertson, who is very likely to transfer after Fabrizio Romano revealed that Tottenham Hotspur has begun talks with Liverpool. Robertson is also open to joining Spurs for more consistent playing time.

Latest reports state that as soon as Robertson's transfer happens, Liverpool will immediately move to contact Robinson, seeing this as an opportune moment since Robinson is currently playing regularly for Fulham after recovering from an early-season injury, making him ready to assist Liverpool right away.

Besides their interest in Robinson, Liverpool is also considering other options, including recalling Kostas Tsimikas, who is currently on loan at Roma, to support the team again.
