Most recently, Spain’s Diario AS reported that Liverpool has officially offered the managerial position to Xabi Alonso, former Real Madrid coach, after Arne Slot faced severe criticism for his team’s performance. Liverpool currently sits 4th in the table, 14 points behind leaders Arsenal.
The report further states that Xabi Alonso is willing to take on the Liverpool role despite currently being on a break, while he remains uninterested in offers from other clubs.
Xabi Alonso parted ways with Real Madrid after a 2-3 loss to Barcelona, which cost them the Supercopa de España title in mid-January. He had managed the team for less than eight months.
