Liverpools Decision Clear After Reports of Interest in Top Player

Liverpool has made a clear decision after rumors about interest in signing a top player.

On 27 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Paul Gorst, a Liverpool correspondent for the well-known local media Liverpool Echo, reported the latest on the potential signing of Adam Wurton, an England international midfielder from Crystal Palace competing in the Premier League.

Liverpool has been continuously linked with interest in Adam Wurton, who is praised as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. He is known for his ability to transition play from defense to attack effectively, aiding quick counterattacks and helping Crystal Palace win the 2024-25 FA Cup.

However, Paul Gorst recently stated that Liverpool has not made any serious effort to acquire Adam Wurton. Despite Wurton's playing style differing from Ryan Gravenberch, the Reds are satisfied with their current midfield options.

Additionally, Adam Wurton's contract runs until 2029, leading Crystal Palace to demand a high fee of £65-80 million. Liverpool is unlikely to rush into such a costly deal soon, having already spent over £400 million last summer.

Paul Gorst also noted that Liverpool's short-term transfer priorities are strengthening center-back, left-back, and winger positions, which are considered better value investments. This situation favors Manchester United, who are interested in Adam Wurton as they seek to rebuild their midfield following Casemiro's contract expiration at the end of this season.
