Two strong teams reveal four possible Liverpool opponents after reaching the UCL Round of 16.
On 29 January 2026, four potential opponents for Liverpool in the next round were revealed after the club secured automatic qualification to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 2025-26, following last night's final group stage results.
Liverpool hosted Qarabağ from Azerbaijan and won decisively 6-0, increasing their total to 18 points and finishing third in the UCL group stage standings, behind Arsenal with a perfect 24 points and Bayern Munich in second with 21 points.
This performance means Liverpool will be seeded in the Round of 16 and could face one of four teams from the playoff round as follows:
1. Juventus (Rank 13)
2. Atlético Madrid (Rank 14)
3. Club Brugge (Rank 19)
4. Galatasaray (Rank 20)
The four playoff teams Liverpool might face in the Round of 16 will be split into two pairs in upper and lower brackets. Either (Rank 13) or (Rank 14) will face one of (Rank 19) or (Rank 20), depending on the draw.
Then, one of the two winners will advance to face the "Reds" next. The playoff legs are scheduled for 17-18 February (first leg) and 24-25 February (second leg).
The UEFA Champions League 2025-26 playoff draw will be held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Friday, 30 January, at 18:00 Thailand time.
