Liverpool has contacted the agent of French national team defender Dayot Upamecano, who is set to become a free agent this summer, to secure his signing.
On 1 February 2026, interest has surged in Dayot Upamecano's future, as the Bayern Munich defender is due to become a free agent in the upcoming summer.
According to TEAMtalk, several major clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter Milan have all held talks with Upamecano's representatives.
Although Bayern Munich has offered a contract renewal for Upamecano to consider, it has been made clear that the offer will not remain open indefinitely, indicating that the 2022 World Cup runner-up with France is keen to leave the club.
Allowing him to leave on a free transfer would cause financial and sporting losses, especially in an era when top-level defenders command very high fees, comparable to other key positions.
So far this season, Dayot Upamecano has appeared in 26 matches for Bayern Munich across all competitions, recording 1 goal and 1 assist.
