Mohamed Salah, Liverpool's striker, may transfer after receiving an offer from a Saudi league team.
On 5 Feb 2026 GMT+7, foreign media reported that Mohamed Salah, Liverpool's striker, has become the top target of Al Ittihad, a Saudi Pro League team, to replace Karim Benzema, who is about to leave the club.
Previously in 2024, Al Ittihad offered £150 million to buy Salah but Liverpool rejected it. Although the Saudi league transfer window has closed, it is expected that another bid for the striker will be made in the summer.
The Egyptian player has long been a target for Saudi clubs despite recently renewing his contract with Liverpool last April. Interest intensified after he publicly criticized Liverpool in December before joining the Africa Cup of Nations. This season, he has scored only six goals, so it is not surprising he seeks new challenges, attracting interest from several clubs despite his age.
Saudi teams have been linked with many star players recently, as the Saudi Pro League saw several transfer rumors in the past week, including N'Golo Kanté reportedly moving to Turkey's Fenerbahçe, Karim Benzema leaving Al Ittihad, and Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to leave due to dissatisfaction with the PIF fund's management and lack of support for Al Nassr, his club. These issues have prompted efforts to restore the league's prominent football image ahead of hosting the 2034 World Cup.
