Its Over: Manchester United Set to Permanently Sell Star Player, No Longer Part of the Team

"The Red Devils," Manchester United, are reportedly preparing to permanently sell this star player.

On 5 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that "The Red Devils," Manchester United, the Premier League giant, will permanently let go of André Onana, the Cameroon international goalkeeper, from Old Trafford after this season.

Manchester United is reducing its internal wage expenses and has begun this plan, starting with Casemiro, the Brazilian midfielder, who is set to leave after this season. Casemiro is the highest-paid player at the club, earning £350,000 per week, and his departure will significantly help address these financial issues.

According to the latest reports from Romano, 29-year-old Onana will also leave the team. This time, it will be a permanent transfer. He is currently on loan at Trabzonspor, a club in the Turkish league, and it appears he has already played his final match for the Red Devils.

Romano stated, “Who will be the next to leave the club? Certainly, in this summer’s transfer window, it will be André Onana.”

“Onana is currently on loan at Trabzonspor, and Manchester United’s decision is quite clear—they will not renew his contract.”

"The idea is to part ways and find a solution. There have been reports in England about a possible return to Inter Milan, but I’m not aware of that. Yes, his agent is in Milan but is handling multiple deals. They are in Milan for other matters, not for Onana’s transfer to Inter."

“However, several clubs are interested in Onana. He will evaluate all his options, and what I can tell you today is that Onana will leave Manchester United and seek new challenges in the 2026/27 season.”
