Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez is close to joining a major European club after moving from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal, where he has been unhappy.
On 5 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Darwin Núñez, the Uruguayan striker, is set to join Fenerbahçe, a prominent Turkish league club, following his transfer from Liverpool, the well-known English Premier League club nicknamed the "Reds," to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, where he has been dissatisfied.
Darwin Núñez moved from the elite Anfield club, Liverpool, where he scored 40 goals and provided 26 assists in 143 appearances, to join Al Hilal for a fee of €53 million, approximately 1.978 billion baht, on a three-year contract. However, shortly after his transfer, reports emerged that he was unhappy at his current club due to the competition level not being as intense as in Europe.
Recent reports indicate that Fenerbahçe is interested in signing Darwin Núñez to make an impact again in European competitions. Negotiations have already begun to some extent, but the club faces budget constraints that may not fully meet the current club's asking price. Nevertheless, the deal still has a chance to happen.
