Manchester United Identifies New Left Winger Target, Preparing Summer Signing

The "Red Devils," Manchester United, have been reported to have chosen a new left winger to strengthen their squad this summer.

Ben Jacobs, a well-known football journalist, reported that the Premier League giants Manchester United are considering signing Anthony Gordon, the English winger from Newcastle United, known as the "Magpies," to join Old Trafford this summer.

It is believed that Manchester United plans to sign a new left winger in the summer of 2026, with Jason Wilcox, the club's football director, ready to invest £200 million in the transfer market if interim manager Michael Carrick can lead the team to qualify for the next season's UEFA Champions League.

Earlier reports indicated that Manchester United targeted Yann Diomandé, the Ivorian international from RB Leipzig, but his transfer fee reached €100 million, which United deemed too costly for a single player. Now, Anthony Gordon has become their main target.

Reports state that Gordon's ability to play both as a left winger and as a center forward greatly appeals to Manchester United, as it would add versatility to their attack for the 2026-27 season.

Gordon has been with Newcastle since January 2023, after transferring from Everton for £45 million. He has played 139 first-team matches for Newcastle, scoring 32 goals and providing 27 assists.
