Pep Guardiola Speaks Candidly After Manchester City’s Win Over Liverpool, Still Six Points Behind Arsenal in Thrilling Premier League Title Race

Pep Guardiola speaks candidly after beating Liverpool, still six points behind Arsenal in a thrilling Premier League title chase.

On 10 February 2026, Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, gave an interview at a press conference ahead of the 26th week of the 2025-26 English Premier League season. The midweek match will see City host Fulham on Wednesday, 11 February.

Manchester City's current position in the title race is second place with 50 points, following a 2-1 away win against Liverpool at Anfield. They trail league leaders Arsenal by six points, with both teams having 13 matches left to play.

However, Manchester City has a chance to reduce the gap to three points since they play Fulham before Arsenal's away match against Brentford on Thursday, 12 February. The "Citizens" could therefore put pressure on the "Gunners" if they beat the "Cottagers" first.

Pep Guardiola commented on the latest Premier League title race situation, with City still six points behind: "Although the gap may not seem large, considering Arsenal's performance, six points is actually quite significant. Our next game is against Fulham, a team that improves every year, so we'll have to wait and see."

"Over the past weeks and months, whenever I give pre-match interviews, I often hear that a loss would mean losing everything and disappearing from the world. So what I want to say is: How do you beat Fulham?"

"I understand that talking about a three- or four-point gap sounds good and is okay, but that’s not winning the title or even trying to stay in the title race until the final stretch."
