Michael Carrick, interim manager of Manchester United, spoke openly after leading the team to a draw against West Ham in the latest Premier League match.
Michael Carrick, Manchester United's interim manager, credited his players for their resilience after they came from behind to draw 1-1 with West Ham United during injury time in last night's English Premier League match, praising Benjamin Sesko for scoring the crucial equalizer.
Carrick said, "It was a tough game, and we expected it to be like this. I think we didn’t perform at our best in terms of sharpness and attacking play, so sometimes you have to make the most of what happens on the night."
"Credit must go to every player who fought back again. That’s a good quality a team should have. There are positive lessons to take from this game. You can't win every match, but certainly, we didn’t want to leave empty-handed."
"As for Sesko, it’s no surprise—he has that quality in him. He is dangerous both inside and around the penalty area. Those two goals are very important for him: one to secure a point and another to win a match. I’m happy for him."
"We also have to give credit to West Ham; they defended well and closed down space effectively. I won’t be too harsh on the players. We will learn from tonight and come back stronger."
