Early in the first half, in the 36th minute, Como was awarded a penalty after Napoli's Matias Oliveira fouled Ivan Smolsic in the box. Martin Baturina successfully converted the penalty, giving Como a 1-0 lead, which stood until halftime.
At the start of the second half, in the 46th minute, Napoli equalized. Rasmus Hojlund assisted Antonio Vergara, who broke through to score, leveling the match at 1-1.
After 90 minutes ended tied 1-1, the winner was decided by a penalty shootout. Como was more accurate, winning 7-6, advancing to the Coppa Italia semifinals for the first time in 40 years, where they will face Inter Milan next.
