Top Favorite Rises Sharply: 5 Leading Candidates for New Manchester United Manager After One Contender Drops Out

Top favorite surges ahead: Five leading contenders for the new Manchester United manager after one challenger drops out.

On 13 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Sky Bet, a well-known legal bookmaker in England, released the latest odds for who will become the next permanent manager of Manchester United, the Premier League giant.

One contender has already dropped out, after the England national team announced it extended the contract of German head coach Thomas Tuchel, originally set to expire after the 2026 FIFA World Cup in July, now extended through to the end of Euro 2028.

Sky Bet has named Michael Carrick as the favorite to become Manchester United's next permanent manager, following his excellent unbeaten run of five games since taking over (four wins, one draw). The team has risen to fourth place, ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool, with a strong chance to qualify fully for next season's UEFA Champions League.

The second favorite is Oliver Glasner, whose contract with Crystal Palace expires at the end of this season. Gareth Southgate, long linked with Manchester United, remains the third favorite, while two other top coaches, Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique, are fourth and fifth favorites respectively.

The top five favorites for Manchester United's manager next season (according to Sky Bet):

Favorite 1: Michael Carrick (Manchester United interim manager) – Odds 10/11 (bet 11, win 10 excluding stake).

Favorite 2: Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace) – Odds 5/1.

Favorite 3: Gareth Southgate (currently unemployed) – Odds 6/1.

Favorite 4: Julian Nagelsmann (Germany national team) – Odds 14/1.

Favorite 5: Luis Enrique (Paris Saint-Germain) – Odds 20/1.
