Agent at Work? Vinicius Slips Up Mentioning Szoboszlai Amid Madrid Rumors Eyeing Liverpool Star

Vinicius Junior has become the center of a major rumor after admitting he regularly keeps in touch with Dominik Szoboszlai, amid reports that Real Madrid is closely watching the Liverpool player's situation.

On 16 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid's key winger, became the focus of fresh rumors after confirming he regularly communicates with Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool's star midfielder, amid news that the White House is considering signing the Hungarian international this summer.

Vinicius, who has played at Santiago Bernabeu since 2018 and has won every major title with the club, spoke to Spanish media about his relationship with Szoboszlai:

“Do I have friends outside Real Madrid? Of course. I talk to Dominik Szoboszlai very often. We've known each other since we were kids.”

These remarks intensified the rumors, especially since Real Madrid has reportedly been considering a bid for the 25-year-old, possibly involving Eduardo Camavinga as part of a swap deal.

Online chatter jokes that Real Madrid's ongoing links to Liverpool players, including past interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold, might be due to a "secret agent" like Jude Bellingham—a close friend at both national and club level—helping lure Reds players to Bernabeu, including now Szoboszlai.

Meanwhile, Marco Rossi, Hungary's national team coach, has revealed that Szoboszlai has dreamed of playing for Real Madrid since childhood.

“Dominik has had only one dream since he was a child: to play for Real Madrid. I've known him since he started his football journey, and his dream has never changed.”

However, the situation remains unclear as Szoboszlai is under contract with Liverpool until 2028 and is currently negotiating an extension with manager Arne Slot, after an impressive season tallying 10 goals and 7 assists in 35 matches across all competitions.

Although no official offer has been made, Vinicius's comments are seen as "fueling the fire" of what could become a heated summer transfer market saga, causing Liverpool fans to worry that a teammate on the pitch might unknowingly be acting as an agent off it.
