Is This Really Lammens? Onana Aims to Redeem Himself, Return to Manchester United, and Reclaim No.1 Spot

Is this really Lammens? "Onana" aims to redeem himself, return to Manchester United, and reclaim the No. 1 goalkeeper spot.

On 25 Feb 2025 GMT+7, André Onana, the Cameroonian goalkeeper, aims to fight for the starting position at Manchester United again after his loan contract with Trabzonspor ends in May. He believes he will get the chance to prove his skills when he reports back for pre-season training.

Onana transferred from Inter Milan to Manchester United in 2023 for an initial fee of £44.1 million and was trusted as the No. 1 goalkeeper under Erik ten Hag. However, frequent errors began to jeopardize his position.

Later, under Ruben Amorim's management, Onana was dropped after contributing to two goals conceded in a 2-2 draw against Olympique Lyon and had limited playing opportunities since the start of the season.

He was then loaned to Trabzonspor after Manchester United signed Senne Lammens during the summer transfer window.

However, reclaiming the No. 1 spot won't be easy as Lammens has performed impressively in his first Premier League season, keeping five clean sheets in 21 matches and demonstrating composure and confidence in goal.

In the match where United won 1-0 away at Everton, the Belgian goalkeeper made several crucial saves, earning praise from interim manager Michael Carrick, who described him as a reliable presence that brings stability to the team.

“You need a goalkeeper you can trust and rely on, someone who reduces chaos rather than creating it and helps calm the team. I think Senne has those qualities. He might seem quiet and not very flashy, but he has inner strength. Taking on this role is a big task for some,” Carrick said in praise.
