Farewell Manchester United: First Player Sold This Summer After Losing Place in Team

Farewell Manchester United: They have agreed to sell their first player this summer after he lost his place in the team.

On 26 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Fanatik, a Turkish media outlet, reported that Manchester United, the renowned Premier League club, has agreed to sell their first player this summer after Belgian first-choice goalkeeper Senne Lammens delivered an outstanding performance.

Sources indicate that Manchester United reached an agreement with Beşiktaş, a top Turkish league club, to sell backup goalkeeper Altay Bayındır this summer transfer window for a fee of 5 million euros (4.3 million pounds or 185 million baht). Bayındır also agreed to reduce his salary to return to his home country.

The report further states that Altay Bayındır nearly left Manchester United during the January winter transfer window, but no deal was finalized. However, Beşiktaş renewed their interest, and eventually, an agreement was reached.

Altay Bayındır played in six Premier League matches for Manchester United at the start of this season while André Onana was injured. But since Senne Lammens, who transferred from Royal Antwerp, claimed the number one spot in October, Bayındır has not played a single match.

With Altay Bayındır's sale, Manchester United may need to find a new goalkeeper to serve as backup to Senne Lammens, even though André Onana is set to return to compete for the starting position at Old Trafford after his loan from Trabzonspor ended. Trabzonspor declined a permanent deal due to his high wages.
