"The Reds" Liverpool are reportedly preparing a shocking move to release a championship-winning player from the team this summer.
The Daily Mail, a prominent English media outlet, reported that Liverpool, a Premier League giant, is preparing to release English defender Joe Gomez from Anfield this summer.
Gomez, 28, is currently the longest-serving player at Liverpool, but it appears he will leave the club when this season ends, despite having a contract until the end of June 2027.
The report states that Liverpool is ready to let Gomez go; they will not block his transfer if he wishes to move and will fully approve the transfer, marking the end of his 11-year tenure with the club.
Gomez joined from Charlton Athletic in 2015 and developed into a top-level defender, although he has frequently faced injury issues.
Nonetheless, his 11 years have been impressive. He helped the Reds win all major trophies, playing a key role as a starting center-back during one of the greatest seasons in English football history in 2019/20.
Overall, he helped the team win 2 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, 1 League Cup, 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 UEFA Super Cup, and 1 FIFA Club World Cup.
Besides Gomez, Andrew Robertson, Ibrahima Konaté, and Mohamed Salah are also among Liverpool players likely to leave Anfield this summer. Robertson has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Atlético Madrid, Konaté is a target for Real Madrid, and Mohamed Salah is reportedly pursued by Al-Ittihad, a powerhouse in the Saudi league.
