Liverpool fans are smiling as Klopp reveals the latest good news ahead of the push to overtake Manchester United for third place in the Premier League.
On 3 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool's manager, shared the latest readiness update ahead of their 29th Premier League match of the 2025-26 season, an away game at Wolverhampton, scheduled for tonight at 03:15 GMT+7.
The current Premier League standings show Liverpool with 48 points and a +10 goal difference, holding fifth place. A win could allow them to leapfrog Manchester United, who have 51 points and a +12 goal difference, into third place. Wolverhampton remain at the bottom with 13 points, 14 points adrift of the safety zone.
Klopp provided an update on Florian Wirtz, the German attacking midfielder who suffered a back injury during warm-up before last week's 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest, causing him to be withdrawn from the starting lineup and miss the recent 5-2 victory over West Ham United.
Klopp indicated that Wirtz is likely to miss both Premier League matches against Wolverhampton tonight and the FA Cup fifth round on Friday, 6 Mar 2026 GMT+7, but could return in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 away leg against Galatasaray on 10 Mar 2026 GMT+7.
Klopp said of Wirtz, "I have nothing new to add beyond what I said on Saturday. Tuesday's game might come too soon, and possibly Friday's as well. But we'll see how things turn out in the end."
"We hope he will be back next week, maybe a little earlier or later, but that's the timeframe we're anticipating."
This means Liverpool currently have a total of six injured players, as follows:
Florian Wirtz (back)
Alexander Isak (leg)
Conor Bradley (knee)
Wataru Endo (foot)
Giovanni Leonie (torn anterior cruciate ligament)
Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring)
