From Ratchaburi to Munich! Bayern Munich signs Maicon Cardoso, son of Douglas, to a long-term contract.
On 4 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Bayern Munich, the German Bundesliga giant, officially announced a long-term contract extension with 17-year-old promising forward Maicon Cardoso, following his impressive performances since joining the team.
In the 2025/26 season, he became a key player for the U19 team and also had chances to train with Bayern's senior squad.
A statement on the club’s website said that FC Bayern Munich has extended the long-term contract of highly talented forward Maicon Cardoso, recognizing his impressive and continuous development since joining the team in the 2025/26 season.
The Brazilian has become part of the reserve team since the winter break and started in the last two matches. Recently, he signed a contract to continue his development for several more years.
Felix Sauer, Youth Team Director, said, "We are very excited about Maicon’s progress. He moved from our international youth program to join the U-17 team on campus last year. After outstanding performances with the U-19s in the first half of the season, he earned promotion to the reserves during the winter break. In the wins over Unterhaching and Hankofen, he was one of the standout forwards. We are happy he will continue to grow with the club and look forward to his future development."
Maicon Cardoso was born in Brazil but grew up in Thailand because his father, Douglas Cardoso, played professionally for Ratchaburi.
