Former star player weighs in on the debate over Arne Slot's future with Liverpool, suggesting his time at the club has come to an end after inconsistent performances.
On 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7, former star player Gabriel Agbonlahor voiced his opinion on the ongoing debate about Dutch coach Arne Slot, saying his time at the helm of Premier League giants Liverpool has come to an end due to inconsistent current results.
Looking back to last summer, Arne Slot spent a massive £450 million—approximately 18,983 million baht—on signings including Jeremy Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Hugo, and Alexander Isak. However, the team's performance has fallen short of expectations, especially in the Premier League where they currently stand only 6th in the table.
Recently, Gabriel Agbonlahor said, “From my perspective, I want to see a change in Liverpool’s managerial position. I actually want to see it now. I know Arne Slot has faced problems, but instead of focusing on solving them, he keeps blaming bad luck or fate. I regret saying this, but he lacks clarity and spirit. I understand the huge pressure replacing Jürgen Klopp brings, and I get that very well, but I feel he just doesn’t fit with this club.”
