The "Red Devils" Manchester United are going all out, ready to invest £100 million to secure just one player.
Gazzetta dello Sport, a prominent Italian media outlet, reported that Manchester United, the Premier League giant, are prepared to offer £100 million to buy Sandro Tonali, the Italian national team midfielder from Newcastle United, known as the "Magpies," this summer at Old Trafford.
Tonali, aged 25, is highly favored by Manchester United's board of directors. Previously, there were rumors that the player wanted to return to play in Italy.
However, Juventus has recently abandoned plans to sign him because they could not meet Newcastle's asking price, making Manchester United the leading candidate in this deal.
Manchester United is ready to pay Newcastle £100 million without issue, as they plan to strengthen their midfield to replace Casemiro, who is preparing to leave the team.
It is expected that at least two midfielders will join the Theatre of Dreams this summer, with Tonali being one of them. The other two linked players are Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest and Carlos Baleba from Brighton.
If Manchester United completes the Tonali deal for £100 million, he will become the most expensive signing in the club’s history, surpassing Paul Pogba's £89 million transfer in 2016.
Tonali has performed excellently this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 6 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle. Recently, he helped Newcastle defeat Manchester United 2-1 in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, the father of "JJ Gabriel," a promising attacking player for the Red Devils, posted a message urging Manchester United to quickly sign Tonali, praising him as a very talented player. He added he would talk to JJ to see if he could help persuade Tonali, accompanied by laughing and praying hand emojis, indicating that even people within the club want this player to join the team.
