Patrice Evra fired back at three Manchester United legends after they criticized Michael Carrick.
Following negative critiques from Manchester United legends Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, and Roy Keane toward Michael Carrick, the club's interim manager, after the team's 1-2 away defeat to Newcastle United in the English Premier League,
Patrice Evra, the club's former left-back, stepped up to defend Michael Carrick and responded firmly to the three United legends.
“I hope Paul Scholes’ Instagram story was fake. I hope his account was hacked. Honestly, I’m not surprised by this from Scholes. He was the quietest player I’ve ever played with in my career, but now, being in the media, he’s dropping major bombs everywhere.”
“I truly don’t understand why there isn’t more support for Michael Carrick. He’s one of us and is doing very well. There’s negative analysis not only from Scholes but also from Roy Keane and Gary Neville.”
“It frustrates me because we want to be in the top four, and those opinions aren’t necessary. But that’s how it is working in TV—you can’t speak positively; you have to focus on the negatives.”
Evra added about Neville, “Most managers get hired and then fired immediately. I told Neville, ‘It’s easy to talk on TV. When you were at Valencia, they asked you to make paella but you served fries and fried fish instead. Three months later, they let you go.’”
“People can’t forget what they did as managers. As players, they’re legends, but as managers, their performance wasn’t great. So when they speak and potentially damage another manager’s career, I think that’s going too far.”
