Liverpool is seriously preparing to make a £70 million bid to sign a Premier League star this summer.
On 8 March 2026, Spanish media outlet Fichajes reported that Liverpool, a prominent Premier League club, is set to pursue the signing of Murillo, the Brazilian international defender from Nottingham Forest, during this summer's transfer window.
Murillo transferred from Corinthians, a major club in his home country, to Nottingham Forest in 2023 for just £10.4 million. Since then, he has established himself as a top Premier League defender, known for his strength, speed, vision, and ability to advance play from the back.
Recently, Fichajes reported that Liverpool plans to offer €80 million, approximately £70 million, to sign Murillo and bolster their defense for the next season. Manager Arne Slot stated that the Brazilian defender is a key target and that decisive actions are underway for this summer.
Meanwhile, Liverpool executives consider Murillo the perfect candidate to strengthen their defense in the future, potentially replacing 34-year-old captain Virgil van Dijk, who is in the latter stages of his career.
Although Liverpool have already secured a pre-contract agreement to sign Jérémy Doku from Rennes, they still plan to reinforce their defense. This comes amid the possibility of Joe Gomez leaving the club and Ibrahima Konaté yet to agree on a contract extension, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.
