Leading media outlets are intensifying reports about Jurgen Klopp's new team after the former manager appears likely to leave his role at Red Bull.
The UK's Daily Mail and Germany's Bild report that Jurgen Klopp, former Liverpool "Reds" manager, might accept the position as coach of the "Die Mannschaft," the German national team, following the 2026 World Cup.
Currently, 58-year-old Klopp serves as Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull. However, sources inside Red Bull say there is growing speculation that Klopp may soon resign to return to sideline coaching.
Klopp's involvement in other events, such as the Winter Olympics, rather than focusing on key matches with Red Bull's affiliated clubs, indicates he is considering future opportunities beyond Red Bull, and that a behind-the-scenes role may no longer suit him.
Bild reports that his current role does not fully utilize his interpersonal skills, which would become more prominent if he were to become a football team manager.
It is inevitable that a high-quality manager like Klopp would be linked to other roles, especially the German national team coaching position.
Klopp has previously declined the German national team coaching job, but Mark Kosicke, Klopp's agent, believes that at some point Klopp might feel compelled to accept it.
However, Julian Nagelsmann, the current German national team coach, still has a contract until 2028. Nagelsmann, aged 38, has managed the national team since 2023 and led them to the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 before losing to eventual champions Spain.
The World Cup is a defining tournament for every coach, and for former Bayern Munich manager Nagelsmann, poor performance could open the door for a top coach like Jurgen Klopp to take over.
