Liverpool celebrates as Klopp reveals two positive updates ahead of Liverpool versus Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League race for a UEFA Champions League spot.
On 13 Mar 2026, Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool's manager, disclosed the latest team readiness before their 30th Premier League match of the 2025-26 season, hosting Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial UEFA Champions League qualification game on Sunday, 15 Mar 2026.
The latest standings before the match show Liverpool in 6th place with 48 points, level with Chelsea in 5th, and just three points behind Manchester United (3rd) and Aston Villa (4th). Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur sits 16th with 29 points, only one point above the relegation zone.
Klopp updated on the condition of first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who was absent in Tuesday's 0-1 away defeat to Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg, saying, "He has been working with the physiotherapists and is currently undergoing recovery."
"We trained today, so we'll see if he can join the team training. That's what I hope for. I expect he will train, but I'm not 100% sure yet because I haven't spoken with him or the medical team this morning."
"He felt a muscle strain when kicking the ball, but after examination, it was a minor injury. We think the recovery won't take long. However, due to the tight match schedule, he missed the game against Galatasaray, and we hope he will be ready to play on Sunday."
"If he's not ready, I expect he will definitely be fit for the Galatasaray match on Wednesday, if everything goes according to plan."
Regarding Federico Chiesa, who missed the Galatasaray defeat due to illness, Klopp said, "I think he feels better now as he was unwell before the game. I believe he has recovered for about 3-4 days now, so he should be able to train with us today."
This means Liverpool currently has five injured players: Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, Giovanni Leoni, and Stefan Bajcetic.
