Jadon Sancho, winger for Aston Villa, delivered bold remarks after his team reached the Europa League quarterfinals.
Jadon Sancho, the sharp winger for the "Villans" Aston Villa, stated he is confident his team has a chance to win the 2025-26 Europa League if they maintain their current form. Recently, they won 2-0 at home against Lille in the second leg of the round of 16, securing a 3-0 aggregate victory to advance to the quarterfinals against Bologna.
Sancho said, "It's an amazing feeling (to advance). Tonight, our fans were incredible. We played according to our plan—that's what we wanted. I hope we can keep this momentum going in the Premier League."
On the chance to win the Europa League, he added, "We have to take it one game at a time. It's a tough competition. European football is very different. We stick to our game plan and work hard on and off the pitch. If we keep doing this, I'm confident we will go far in this tournament."
Sancho also admitted he missed John McGinn, the team captain and midfielder, who recently recovered from injury and returned to help the team in this match, scoring a goal assisted by Sancho himself.
"We missed him a lot. He's a great person to have around. He brings a lot of energy to the dressing room. I'm very happy he's back and glad I could assist him today."
