Unbelievable!!! Ten players from the "Gunners" Arsenal have all withdrawn from their national teams after getting injured while chasing three championships.
Martin Zubimendi, the Spanish international midfielder, has become the 10th Arsenal player to withdraw from his national team camp due to a knee injury.
Zubimendi came on as a substitute late in Spain's win over Serbia last Friday. Spain has now confirmed that he will be unavailable for their next match against Egypt on Tuesday, stating that
"Martin Zubimendi has withdrawn from the Spanish national team camp because of a right knee injury. To avoid risk and protect the player's health, he has been removed from the squad. Arsenal's medical team has been informed of the situation."
Previously, nine Arsenal players had to withdraw from their national teams: Piero Hincapié (Ecuador), Declan Rice (England), Bukayo Saka (England), Noni Madueke (England), Eberechi Eze (England), William Saliba (France), Gabriel (Brazil), Leandro Trossard (Belgium), and Jurrien Timber (Netherlands).
It remains to be seen how long these ten players will need to recover, as Arsenal continues to compete for three trophies this season: the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League, having recently suffered heartbreak losing the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City.
Miguel Arteta's team will return to action in the FA Cup quarterfinals, visiting Southampton on 4 April. Then they face Sporting Lisbon in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals on 7 April.
In the Premier League, Arsenal leads the table by 9 points over Manchester City. Their next league match is at home against Bournemouth on 11 April, followed by a crucial home clash with Manchester City on 19 April.
