
The England national team suffered their first-ever home defeat to the Japan national team in a friendly match held last night at their home ground.
In the friendly football match on Tuesday night, 31 March 2026, the "Three Lions" England hosted the visiting "Samurai Blue" Japan at Wembley Stadium.
The result was a shock upset, with Japan coming away with a 1-0 victory over England on their home turf. The winning goal was scored by Kaoru Mitoma, a winger playing in the Premier League for Brighton, in the 23rd minute.
For upcoming fixtures, England will play a friendly against New Zealand on 6 June, while Japan will travel to face the Netherlands on 15 June 2026.
