FA Charges Harry Maguire Over Abusive Remarks to Referee in Man Utd Draw with Bournemouth

The Football Association has charged Harry Maguire for abusive language directed at the referee following his red card in the match where Man Utd drew with Bournemouth.

On 1 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the Football Association confirmed that Harry Maguire has been charged with misconduct related to the incident when he received a red card in the Premier League match where Manchester United only managed a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Friday, 20 March 2026 GMT+7.

Harry Maguire fouled Evanilson inside the penalty area, resulting in a penalty and a red card in the 78th minute. Bournemouth converted the penalty through Eli Junior Krupi, equalizing at 2-2 in the 81st minute, with the game ending in a draw between Bournemouth and Manchester United.

The FA stated that Maguire was sent off in the 78th minute and, after receiving the red card, he is alleged to have used abusive language and exhibited inappropriate behavior toward the fourth official.

The association has set a deadline for Maguire to submit his explanation by 2 April 2026 GMT+7, putting him at risk of an extended suspension beyond the initial one-match ban if found guilty.
