Kaoru Mitoma, the Japanese winger for Brighton in the English Premier League, joked that his English Brighton teammates might not welcome him warmly when he returns to the club, after he scored the winning goal to help Japan beat England 1-0 at Wembley in the recent friendly.
"I think my teammates probably won't welcome me very well when I go back to the club after the international break. Honestly, I don’t know how they’ll react, but they certainly won’t be happy for me (laughs)."
"But the most important thing is to help my club get good results and improve our position in the league table," Mitoma said.
Currently, Brighton is 10th in the Premier League standings. Their next match is an away game against Burnley, ranked 19th and second from bottom, on 11 Apr 2024 GMT+7 at 21:00.
