Rayan Cherki creates nonstop content by wearing a Liverpool shirt amid a sea of Manchester City players during the FA Cup match.
On 5 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Rayan Cherki, forward for Manchester City, became the center of a strange issue during the FA Cup match last Saturday. He had to awkwardly apologize after cameras caught him wearing the Liverpool shirt of Hugo Ekitike while still sitting on the bench, following a mid-game shirt exchange.
The incident happened during the FA Cup at Etihad Stadium, where the "Sky Blues" displayed superior form by thrashing their opponents 4-0 to reach the semi-finals.
Cherki and Ekitike, both French national teammates, were substituted off around the same time in the second half. They decided to exchange shirts even though about 20 minutes remained in the game, which is generally considered inappropriate. Cherki went further by wearing the Liverpool shirt while sitting on the bench.
Broadcast cameras clearly captured Cherki putting on the red Liverpool shirt while sitting among his Manchester City teammates. After staff or teammates warned him about the inappropriateness, he quickly took off the shirt and raised his hands in apology to those around him.
Meanwhile, the camera cut to the Liverpool bench where Ekitike sat calmly in a black warm-up suit after safely keeping Cherki's shirt.
Rayan Cherki recently provoked Arsenal players, according to the Daily Mail, after showing off ball juggling during the Carabao Cup final in which his team defeated Arsenal. Some of Cherki's actions were viewed as taunting the opponents.
