One of Liverpool's star players faced harsh criticism from experts after a poor showing in the away loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
Gabriel Agbonlahor, former Aston Villa striker turned football analyst, criticized Hugo Ekitike, the French forward for Liverpool, for his poor performance in the 0-2 away defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
The 23-year-old Ekitike started the match but had only one shot, which was off target, before being substituted in the 78th minute.
Agbonlahor said, “Ekitike played very poorly. I’m a big fan of his, but in this match he showed nothing. He didn’t try, was lazy, and every time he faced a one-on-one duel, he lost the ball.”
Meanwhile, Ian Doyle from Liverpool Echo gave Ekitike a rating of just 5 out of 10, citing "too many mistakes with unnecessary tricks and losing possession easily."
In the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg, Liverpool will host Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on 14 April.
