Manchester United Makes Bold Move, Chooses a Top-Quality Casemiro Replacement with 9 Championships

Manchester United is making a bold move by selecting a top-quality Casemiro replacement boasting 9 championship titles.

On 21 April 2026, The Sun, a prominent UK media outlet, reported that Manchester United, a leading Premier League club, has set a new target to find a replacement for veteran Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who will leave the team after this season.

Casemiro's contract with Manchester United expires this June, and he has announced his departure from the club. At the same time, the club plans to release Manuel Ugarte, a defensive midfielder from Uruguay, forcing the "Red Devils" to find replacements during this summer's transfer window.

Recently, sources revealed that Manchester United is closely monitoring Aurélien Tchouaméni, a tough French midfielder from La Liga giant Real Madrid, as a top choice to succeed Casemiro next season.

Aurélien Tchouaméni, now 26, is reaching the peak of his career, having won 9 trophies—8 with Real Madrid (including La Liga, UEFA Champions League, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup once each; and Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup twice each) and 1 with the French national team (UEFA Nations League).

Manchester United turned their attention to Tchouaméni after Real Madrid showed signs of offloading players to raise funds for signing big-name targets, particularly Rodri, the Spanish midfielder whose contract with Manchester City has only one year remaining.

Meanwhile, Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez is also among Real Madrid's interests, and he has expressed willingness to join, which once led to Chelsea punishing him by relegating him to the bench.

Manchester United previously had links to Elliot Anderson, the English midfielder from Nottingham Forest, but recent developments suggest Manchester City is the frontrunner to sign him, prompting United to shift their focus to Aurélien Tchouaméni instead.

Additionally, Manchester United is reportedly interested in several other Premier League midfielders, including Sandro Tonali (Newcastle), Carlos Baleba (Brighton), Adam Wurtz (Crystal Palace), and Alex Scott (Bournemouth).
