Leicester Fans Question Aiyawatt on Why Team Was Relegated to League One

Leicester City fans waited to question Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha after their beloved team was relegated to League One.

On 23 April 2026, after Leicester City managed only a draw with Hull City, they were relegated from the Championship to League One.

After the match, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Leicester City's chairman, was confronted by fans seeking to discuss the team's future direction and whether there would be a team for them to support going forward.

"Mr. Top, can we talk for a moment? We're not here to harm you, just to have a conversation," a fan shouted.

As Aiyawatt was about to get into his car to leave, he agreed to the fans' request. He approached those waiting and answered questions mostly along the lines of, "Our team is going down to League One. What happened? Will you continue to run the team? Is the relegation due to the players?"

Aiyawatt replied, "It’s a bad day. I can’t sit here blaming others, but if people want me to take the blame, I will. I’ve tried everything, and the players have tried as well, but everyone knows it might not have been enough. I’ve been here 15 years, invested a lot, and I will keep trying."

Fans also conveyed their message to the chairman about the players: "I love this club more than anything. I watch every game. But why, in the last 4-5 matches, did the players seem to play carelessly and not care about us? You’re the one paying them, so you must be disappointed with them. It hurts a lot. I’m angry too, but I understand that some others in the team didn’t fulfill their roles."

Nevertheless, Aiyawatt reassured the fans that he would strive to bring the team back to where it belongs.

Leicester City still has two league matches remaining: a home game against Millwall and an away game at Blackburn Rovers.
