Manchester United was visibly excited when a World Cup runner-up caliber player showed interest in playing at the Theatre of Dreams.
UnitedInFocus reported that Aurelien Tchouameni, the French national team midfielder and 2022 World Cup runner-up with Real Madrid, inquired with fellow Frenchman Rafael Varane about his decision to move from Real Madrid to Manchester United.
Tchouameni is a target for Manchester United, who hope to bring him in as a replacement for Casemiro, expected to leave Old Trafford after this season. It seems Tchouameni is quite alert to these rumors, even asking Varane—who previously decided to move from Real Madrid to Manchester United and won two trophies, the FA Cup and League Cup—about his experience.
Tchouameni asked Varane why he chose to leave Real Madrid in 2021. Varane replied, "I had won everything and told myself I had achieved it all. At one point in life, I limited myself, reflected on managing my career, and told myself I needed to feel emotions going forward. I wanted something different."
"Joining Manchester United allowed me to be part of a club I truly see as special. Manchester is where you feel passionate about football. You can feel it because you live it every day. It’s an incredible experience, and I thank the United fans for that."
It remains to be seen whether Varane’s words will help Tchouameni decide to join Manchester United this summer.
Varane played 360 matches for Real Madrid, winning four Champions League titles and three La Liga championships.
