Ajax, a top club in the Dutch league, is interested in acquiring Arne Slot, Liverpool's manager, to lead their team.
On 5 May 2026, Arne Slot, Liverpool's manager, was reported to be a target of Ajax, another leading European club, interested in hiring him, according to Mike Verweij, a journalist from The Telegraph.
Reports indicate that Ajax has signaled interest in having Arne Slot take charge, with Jordi Cruyff, Ajax's technical director, seeking a permanent head coach. Currently, Oscar Garcia serves as interim manager.
Another coach Ajax is interested in is Michel, the Spanish manager of Girona, who is considered the favorite to take over the team.
Cruyff sees Slot as one of two Dutch coaches qualified to manage Ajax, the other being Peter Bosz, who recently extended his contract with PSV until summer 2028. However, reports say Slot has stated he does not want to move to Ajax and intends to continue with Liverpool, where he is under contract until summer 2027.
Currently, Arne Slot has led Liverpool to fourth place in the 2025/26 Premier League after 35 matches, accumulating 58 points, and they are no longer in contention for any titles this season.
