Pong Nawat Apologizes to Liverpool Fans Over Mocking Steven Gerrards Slip (Video)

Pong Nawat apologizes to Liverpool fans over mocking Steven Gerrard's slip.

On 14 May 2026, after actor Pong Nawat was heavily criticized by Liverpool fans for posting a joke about Steven Gerrard: "What an experience! Playing football with @stevengerrard, a Liverpool legend, so professional. I want to whisper in his ear and ask, 'Will you slip again today?' hehe," before deleting the message.

Recently, Jackie Adisorn Phuengya, a famous columnist and Liverpool fan, interviewed Pong Nawat about the matter. Pong responded, "It was a joke that wasn’t very funny. I see football as entertainment; people tease each other. But I just realized this is a very sensitive issue for Liverpool fans. I sincerely apologize."

The "Gerrard slip" incident is one of the most heartbreaking moments in Premier League history. On 27 April 2014, Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard slipped near the penalty box, allowing Demba Ba to steal the ball and score, giving Chelsea a 1-0 lead. Chelsea won 2-0, causing Liverpool to narrowly miss out on the 2013-14 league title.
