Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, spoke candidly after leading his team to a 1-0 victory over Chelsea to claim their 8th FA Cup title.
Pep Guardiola, the manager of the "Sky Blues" Manchester City, confirmed that their next goal is to continue pursuing the English Premier League title, following their recent 1-0 win over Chelsea with a winning goal from Antoine Semenyo to secure the 8th FA Cup championship in a grand fashion last Saturday night.
Pep said, “We are very happy because this trophy is truly fantastic and is a very historic competition. Winning it is something special. But I feel that last season against Crystal Palace and two seasons ago against Manchester United, we actually played better than today. However, in games like this, the differences are very minimal.”
“Antoine Semenyo has a natural instinct for scoring goals. He can play across all three attacking positions, and in the latest match, he scored an incredible goal.”
“That was very important. It involved a slight positional switch. Normally, he would be the one to deliver crosses to Erling Haaland, but he has that instinct, and it was truly a fantastic goal.”
When asked if they would celebrate heavily with drinks after the game, considering the important league match against Bournemouth awaits, Pep responded, “No, not even a glass of beer! You know the match against Bournemouth will be extremely tough. We must go there and secure a good result to keep our chance of winning the title.”
Manchester City will face Bournemouth in the English Premier League's penultimate match on 19 May.
