Arsenal Gets Good News Boosting UEFA Champions League Title Hopes

Arsenal gets good news boosting their UEFA Champions League title hopes.

On 18 May 2026 GMT+7, Arsenal, the English Premier League leaders, have reason for optimism following bad news for Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 champions of France, their opponents in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League final on Saturday, 30 May.

Recently, PSG must wait on the muscle injury status of star forward Ousmane Dembélé, who suffered a problem in the last Ligue 1 match of the 2025-26 season last night. They lost 1-2 away to fellow Parisian club Paris FC, with Dembélé substituted off for Gonzalo Ramos in the 27th minute.

Although reports from France say PSG substituted him early as a precaution, Dembélé has less than 13 days remaining before facing Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final.

This gives Arsenal hope that PSG might be without the key player, the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner. However, Luis Enrique quickly commented on Dembélé’s injury, saying, "I think it’s just fatigue."

"What we are discussing today is only speculation, but I don't believe it is anything serious, and we still have two weeks left."

If PSG truly cannot field Ousmane Dembélé, Arsenal’s task will be considerably easier. This season, Dembélé has played 39 matches across all competitions, scoring 19 goals and providing 11 assists, including 7 goals and 2 assists in the UEFA Champions League.

Last season, Ousmane Dembélé was a major obstacle for Arsenal, scoring the winning goal in PSG’s 1-0 away victory in the UEFA Champions League semifinals first leg, then adding an assist in the second leg to secure a 2-1 aggregate win. PSG went on to claim the title after thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.
