Man Utd Splashes £139 Million to Pursue Two Key Players to Strengthen Squad for Next Seasons Title Chase

Man Utd is set to spend a massive £139 million to sign two strong players to reinforce the squad in the campaign to reclaim the title next season.

On 21 May 2026 GMT+7, Gianluca Di Marzio, a renowned Italian football transfer expert, reported that Premier League giants Manchester United are confident of securing both Sandro Tonali and Ederson to strengthen their midfield this summer.

Man Utd is searching for a replacement for Casemiro, the experienced Brazilian midfielder who will leave after his contract expires. Their main target is Elliot Anderson, the English midfielder from Nottingham Forest, but they face competition from Manchester City, and his transfer fee exceeds £100 million.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Manchester United is pushing forward with plans to sign Sandro Tonali, the Italian international midfielder from Newcastle United, and Ederson, a central midfielder from Atalanta.

Di Marzio stated that United’s management is confident of completing deals for both players. Reports say Sandro Tonali is willing to leave after Newcastle failed to qualify for any European competitions next season, while Ederson’s representatives have already begun talks with the Red Devils.

Regarding Sandro Tonali, Newcastle-based media outlet Chronicle reported his valuation at £100 million, while England’s popular football outlet Team Talk reported Ederson’s fee at £39 million, bringing the total transfer cost for both players to £139 million that Manchester United must pay.
