Sakho has spoken openly about Mohamed Salah's fiery post, criticizing Liverpool for lacking aggression and missing out on all trophies.
On 22 May 2026 GMT+7, Arnaud Sakho, Liverpool's manager, spoke at a press conference ahead of the final Premier League match of the 2025-26 season, hosting Brentford on Sunday, 24 May.
The Liverpool manager was asked about the controversy surrounding Mohamed Salah, who indirectly criticized him by expressing dissatisfaction over missing all trophies this season. Although the Reds won the Premier League last season, they have struggled to secure a top-five finish to qualify for the UEFA Champions League until the final match.
Mohamed Salah also emphasized his desire for Liverpool to return to a "heavy metal football" style—an aggressive approach reminiscent of the period when Jürgen Klopp was in charge—markedly different from Arnaud Sakho's coaching style.
Recently, the Liverpool manager addressed the issue with Mohamed Salah, saying, "People have been making all sorts of assumptions. First, you say he wants to play that style (heavy metal football), and then you say that's not my style."
"I think Mo was very happy with our playing style last year because it helped us win the league. Football changes and evolves, but we both want what's best for Liverpool—that is, to compete for trophies, which we have not managed this season."
"He and the team, of which I am a part, brought the league title back after a five-year gap, and we want to challenge for the title again next season and continue developing the team. That's my view."
"We need to find the right balance between competing fully and playing the kind of football that the fans and I want our team to play."
