Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, confirmed that his team deserved to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League following a 1-1 home draw against Brentford in the closing match of the 2025-26 English Premier League, finishing 5th in the standings.
Slot said, "We had more than one chance to score. We almost lost near the end of the game, and it ultimately ended in a draw."
"There are many habits I want to fix. It's never good to concede goals at any moment, and it happened too often this season. When we were the better team, people didn't notice because we didn't create enough chances."
"Many times this season we were caught on counterattacks and conceded goals. We deserved to be in the Champions League. We were in the top five of the table for most of the season."
Regarding the reception for Salah and Robertson, "It was as wonderful as expected. Our fans always find ways to do something special during beautiful and special moments. Today, there was a lot of singing supporting Diogo Jota."
About next season, "Last season we brought in many players. When they return and are ready to play again, that will bring change. Every club will sign one or two new players, and so will we. We want everyone ready to play, and then our results will improve."
