"The Red Devils" Manchester United are reportedly ready to sign Robert Lewandowski, the Barcelona striker, but with one condition.
Manchester Evening News reported that "The Red Devils" Manchester United, a Premier League giant, are considering signing Robert Lewandowski, the Polish star of "Barca" Barcelona, to Old Trafford this summer if he agrees to reduce his wages.
Previously, 37-year-old Lewandowski made it clear he would leave Barcelona as soon as his contract expires at the end of this season, amid interest from several European clubs including Major League Soccer in the U.S. He has also been linked with Manchester United, who are looking for a striker to help in next season's UEFA Champions League.
Manchester United understand they won't have to pay a transfer fee to acquire Lewandowski, but the main issue is his £400,000 weekly wage, which Lewandowski refused to reduce while still at Barcelona before his departure.
Therefore, it depends on the player himself; if he wants to join the Theatre of Dreams and play in the English Premier League for the first time, he will have to agree to a wage reduction.
Regarding signing older players, the Red Devils have done this in recent years, such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who made an immediate impact; Edinson Cavani, who became a fan favorite; and Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 27 goals in 54 games before his second spell at the club ended.
